Our History
Friendly Book Store
Friendly Book Store has been family-owned and operated for over 80 years. The bookstore itself began in 1940 when Linford Rotenberger, himself part of a large family located in this area for several generations and a Church of the Brethren minister, saw the need for a place for just a small presentation of Bibles and Christian literature.
This all started in the front lobby of what was then Merchants Bank which once stood where Dunkin Donuts is now located. After another move into a shop in that block, we were finally located in our present location on the corner of Third and West Broad St.
